1001 Raises $30 Million Series A

1001, a GCC- and London-based sovereign AI startup for critical infrastructure, has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round.

The round was led by Lux Capital, with participation from Sanabil Investments, Hanabi, 9Yards, General Catalyst, CIV, Chris Ré, and several regional and global angel investors.

The funding will be used to expand 1001's engineering team and strengthen its commercial, sales, and go-to-market operations across key GCC markets.

Founded in 2025 by Bilal Abu-Ghazaleh, 1001 is a GCC- and London-based AI company that develops sovereign AI operating systems for critical infrastructure sectors. Its platform creates live operational models that help organizations predict issues, automate and optimize decision-making, and improve operational efficiency across industries such as aviation, ports and logistics, energy, manufacturing, and industrials. The company's AI systems are built, owned, and governed locally, enabling customers to retain full control over their mission-critical infrastructure.
