Beeble AI Raises $4.75 Million in Seed Round

Beeble AI, a South Korea-based visual effects (VFX) startup, has raised $4.75 million in seed funding, valuing the company at $25 million.

The round was led by Basis Set Ventures, with participation from Fika Ventures.

Founded in 2017, Basis Set Ventures is a venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, California. The firm invests in early-stage startups that are harnessing artificial intelligence to let people perform more productively across four themes: scaling infrastructure, intelligent collaboration, automated workflows, and autonomous machines.

The company will use the funds to enhance its foundational AI model, expand its product development, and grow its team beyond the current seven employees.

Founded in 2022, Beeble AI focuses on the often overlooked aspect of "lighting" in visual effects. The company's flagship product, SwitchLight Studio (soon to be rebranded as Virtual Studio), offers virtual lighting and composition solutions for filmmakers. SwitchLight uses AI to generate individual passes for a video, such as depth, normal, roughness, albedo, specular, and ambient occlusion. Their foundational AI model digitizes 2D footage into a 3D representation, allowing artists to manipulate lighting, environments, and camera angles in post-production.
