Catena Labs Raises $30M in Series A
Catena Labs, a Boston, MA-based startup that builds tools enabling AI agents to safely conduct financial transactions, has raised $30 million in Series A funding, bringing its total funding to $48 million.
The funding round was co-led by Acrew Capital and a16z crypto. Additional participants in the round included Breyer Capital, General Catalyst, and QED.
Catena Labs plans to use the new capital to scale its operations, including hiring additional personnel to support its development of tools for agentic finance and its pursuit of a national trust bank charter.
Founded in 2025 by Sean Neville and Matt Venables, Catena Labs provides a platform that enables humans to establish guardrails for AI agents, allowing them to manage financial transactions safely. The company is focused on the emerging field of agentic finance, building trust frameworks for AI surrogates to move money and handle financial responsibilities.
