Daytona Raises $5 Million in Seed Round

Daytona, a New York-based platform that manages open-source development environments, has raised $5 million in seed funding.

The round was led by Upfront Ventures with participation from existing investor 500 Emerging Europe.

Upfront Ventures is a Santa Monica-based venture capital firm that invests in early-stage technology companies. Founded in 1996 in Los Angeles, with investing professionals based in LA and San Francisco, Upfront has backed teams across all technology sectors. The firm invests about half of its capital in the fast-growing Southern California ecosystem, with the balance across the country, as well as investments in Europe, India, and Israel.

The company will use the funding for product development and hiring for new marketing, sales, and engineering roles.

Daytona is a self-hosted and secure open-source development environment manager. Daytona manages the process of creating standard and secure environments, automates environment setups on branches, and allows users to share environments. It also integrates with IDE or Git providers, adhering to standards such as Development Container, Devfile, Nix, and others.
