Krutrim Raises $50 Million in Funding

Krutrim, an India-based AI startup specializing In Large Language Models has raised $50 million in funding.

The round was led by Matrix Partners India, valuing the company at $1 billion.

Founded in 2006, Matrix Partners India is a venture capital firm that focuses on the enterprise and consumer market at the seed, early, and early growth stages. Based in Bengaluru, India. The firm seeks to invest in consumer technology, business-to-business commerce, enterprise, and fintech sectors.

The startup plans to launch a voice-enabled conversational AI assistant that understands and speaks multiple Indian languages, with a beta version of the chatbot available to consumers next month. Krutrim also plans to roll out APIs to developers and enterprises and explore developing and designing AI-optimized chips in-house.

Founded by Bhavish Aggarwal, Krutrim is working on creating the AI computing stack of the future. The startup is building a large language model that has been trained in local Indian languages in addition to English. Krutrim envisions building a comprehensive AI infrastructure for India, emphasizing the importance of indigenous technology.
