LlamaIndex Raises $19 Million in Series A

LlamaIndex, a San Francisco, CA-based agent development platform for automating knowledge work over unstructured enterprise data, has raised $19 million in Series A funding.

The funding round was led by Norwest Venture Partners, with participation from existing investor Greylock.

Norwest Venture Partners is a global venture and growth equity investment firm managing over $15.5 billion in capital. The firm invests in early- to late-stage businesses across key sectors, with a focus on enterprise, consumer, and healthcare. Norwest has offices in Menlo Park and San Francisco, Calif.; Mumbai, India; and Tel Aviv, Israel.

The company will use the new funding to expand its team and accelerate the development of its core generative AI (GenAI) agent development platform.

Founded in 2023, LlamaIndex is a generative AI agent development platform that helps enterprises build AI agents for finding information, synthesizing insights, generating reports, and taking action on complex data. Initially starting with an open-source project, LlamaIndex’s products include LlamaParse, a genAI-native parsing platform for transforming complex documents into clean data for LLM applications. Additionally, a newly launched, LlamaCloud is a knowledge management platform offering an end-to-end solution for building RAG applications, from data ingestion to agent deployment, available via SaaS or virtual private cloud.
