Nirmata Secures $9.6 Million in Funding

Nirmata, a San Jose, CA-based provider of cloud-native security policy automation and governance solutions, has secured $9.6 million in funding.

The round was led by Peak XV Surge (formerly Sequoia Capital India & SEA), with participation from Dallas Venture Capital, Dreamit Ventures, and existing investors Z5 Capital and Uncorrelated Ventures.

Peak XV Surge is the early-stage investment program of Peak XV Partners, backing startups in India and Southeast Asia. It provides capital, mentorship, and strategic support, focusing on enterprise software, AI, fintech, and cloud security at the seed and Series A stages.

The company will use the funding to expand its global footprint, accelerate product development, and scale its go-to-market strategy. The company continues to grow its presence across the U.S. and India.

Founded by Jim Bugwadia, Damien Toledo, and Ritesh Patel, Nirmata provides cloud-native policy and governance solutions. Its Policy-as-Code platform helps security and platform engineering teams enforce compliance, reduce vulnerabilities, and automate security across Kubernetes, containers, and cloud environments. Nirmata is the creator of Kyverno, the widely adopted open-source policy engine for Kubernetes and serves enterprises, including LinkedIn, Deutsche Telekom, and Wayfair.
