Overworld Raises $4.5M Pre-seed
Overworld, based in Providence, Rhode Island, is a research and development studio building real-time, local-first diffusion world models. The company recently announced it has raised $4.5 million in a pre-seed funding round.
The round was led by Kindred Ventures, with participation from Amplify.LA, Garage Capital, Northside Ventures, Vital Stage, East Sunshine, and angel investors including Logan Kilpatrick and senior leaders from Snowflake and Roblox.
The company is using the capital to support the development of its research preview and to build out its foundation for world models that operate on-device.
Founded in 2026 as a successor to Wayfarer Labs by Louis Castricato and Shahbuland Matiana, Overworld is dedicated to creating interactive AI-native worlds. Its technology utilizes diffusion models that run locally on consumer hardware, enabling real-time responsiveness and increased privacy for researchers, builders, and engineers.
