Polar Raises $10 Million in Seed Round

Polar, a Stockholm-based platform offering open-source payment and billing infrastructure for AI-native SaaS companies, has raised $10 million in seed funding.

The round was led by Accel, with participation from prominent angel investors, including founders and executives from Vercel, Supabase, Shopify, WorkOS, Raycast, Lovable, Framer, Resend, Dub, and Nuxt.

Accel is a global venture capital firm that invests in early-stage and growth-stage tech companies. The firm focuses on the technology, consumer products, SaaS, fintech, and healthcare sectors. With offices in Silicon Valley, London, and Bangalore, Accel provides capital, strategic guidance, and a vast network to help companies scale globally.

The company will use the funds to expand its team, develop next-generation billing tools, and grow its global developer community and operational footprint.

Founded in 2022 by Birk Jernström, Polar is an open-source platform for developers to sell digital products, subscriptions, or SaaS with minimal setup. It handles payments, taxes (VAT), licensing, and user access globally. Its Merchant of Record solution enables global sales, subscription management, entitlement handling, and automated tax compliance. Since launching in September 2024, the company has rapidly scaled to over 18,000 customers in more than 100 countries. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Polar’s mission is to empower developers to ship faster and build businesses around their software.
