Root Sustainability Secures €1M Seed Round

Root Sustainability, an Amsterdam, Netherlands-based climate tech startup, has raised €1 million in a Seed funding round.

The round was led by Borski Fund, with participation from Rockstart, Spotlight, Empower Impact, and additional private investors.

Borski Fund is a Netherlands-based venture capital fund focused on early-stage technology companies with diverse founding teams, particularly those with female founders or mixed-gender leadership. Founded in 2019, the fund primarily invests in Dutch and European startups across sectors such as software, fintech, healthtech, and sustainability.

The company will use the funding to accelerate its European expansion and enhance its AI capabilities for sustainability data optimization and decarbonization.

Founded in 2022 by Gijs de Mol and Maud Schijen, Root Sustainability is a SaaS-based climate tech platform that automates life cycle assessments (LCAs) and sustainability reporting for companies. Its platform centralizes and analyzes environmental data to generate detailed LCAs for products and entire organizations, turning previously scattered operational data across the value chain into actionable impact insights.
