Shiru Raises $16 Million in Funding

Shiru, a Berkeley, CA-based ingredient discovery company, has raised $16 million in a funding round, bringing its total to $36 million.

The round was led by S2G Ventures and supported by CPT Capital, Lux Capital, Nourish Ventures, and Meach Cove Capital.

Founded in 2014, S2G is a $2.5 billion multi-stage investment firm focused on venture and growth-stage businesses across food, agriculture, oceans, and energy.

The funds will accelerate the growth of Shiru’s flagship platform, ProteinDiscovery.ai, and support the company’s expansion.

Shiru provides an AI-powered ingredient discovery platform. The company uses artificial intelligence (AI) to discover and develop natural ingredients, primarily focusing on proteins derived from plants and microbes.
