Tessell Raises $60 Million in Series B

Tessell, a San Ramon, CA-based startup developing a multi-cloud database-as-a-service platform, has raised $60 million in Series B funding.

The round was led by WestBridge Capital, with additional participation from B37 Ventures, Rocketship.vc, and existing investor Lightspeed Venture Partners.

WestBridge Capital is a private equity and venture capital firm established in 2000, with a focus on investments in India and the United States. Headquartered in Mauritius, the firm also has offices in Silicon Valley, Bangalore, and Quatre Bornes, Mauritius. WestBridge Capital primarily targets early-stage investments in both public and private companies.

The company will use the funds to develop its AI-powered conversational database management technology, scale its operations in the U.S., India, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, and invest in research and development to strengthen its platform and services.

Founded in 2021 by Bala Kuchibhotla, Kamal Khanuja, and Bakul Banthia, Tessell provides a cloud-based database management platform for cloud-native and cloud-defining enterprises. Its platform simplifies the deployment, management, and optimization of relational and NoSQL databases across major cloud providers. Headquartered in San Ramon, CA, with an office in Bengaluru, Tessell serves 40 customers including Moody’s, Aditya Birla Capital, Tata Capital, Jubilant Ingrevia, and Forbes.
