Wordsmith AI Raises $25 Million in Series A

Wordsmith AI, an Edinburgh, Scotland-based legal intelligence platform for in-house teams, has raised $25 million in Series A funding.

The round was led by Index Ventures, a venture capital firm based in London, San Francisco, and Geneva. The firm helps entrepreneurs turn bold ideas into global businesses. Founded in 1996, Index Ventures invests in companies operating in AI, machine learning, business applications, data, entertainment, fintech, the future of work, healthcare, media, mobility, open source, retail, security, and talent.

The company will use funds to scale Wordsmith’s AI infrastructure, expand its offices in London and New York, and invest in training legal professionals to deploy AI agents across organizations.

Founded in 2024 by Ross McNairn, Wordsmith AI is a legal technology company that deploys AI agents to support corporate legal functions—helping organizations accelerate decision-making and streamline workflows. Its Legal Enablement Platform, acts as an operational hub for in-house legal teams, enabling them to embed legal expertise throughout the organization. Wordsmith AI’s customers include Trustpilot, Remote.com, Deliveroo, and others.
