Wordsmith Raises $5 Million in Seed Round

Wordsmith, an Edinburgh, Scotland-based AI-powered legal assistant platform, raised $5 million in seed funding.

The round was led by Index Ventures, with participation from General Catalyst and angel investors including Skyscanner founder Gareth Williams.

Index Ventures, founded in 1996 with offices in London, San Francisco, and Geneva, partners with entrepreneurs worldwide to develop bold ideas into global businesses, from Seed to IPO.

The company will use the funds to accelerate hiring in Scotland and the US and support the launch of Wordsmith’s core product to the wider market.

Founded in 2023 by Ross McNairn, Volodymyr Giginiak, and Robbie Falkenthal, Wordsmith provides an AI-powered legal assistant platform. Wordsmith’s AI technology automates repetitive legal tasks, such as contract analysis, answering standard questions, and processing questionnaires, significantly reducing the workload on lawyers. Wordsmith’s customers include fast-growing tech companies such as Trustpilot.
